Notre Dame falls to Northern Illinois as a last-second field goal attempt is blocked losing 16-14

Updated: Sep 7

After a road trip to Texas A&M and a strong defensive effort the Irish return home with what on paper should be an easy win, but, you have to play the game. After the Irish went up 7-0 the Huskies responded with the game's next 13 points. The Irish answered and took the lead, 14-13 in the 3rd after a nifty, tackle-dodging leap and finish by RB-#4 J. Love. A late interception by N. Illinois #5-A. Knighten gave the Huskies the ball back. With 31 seconds left Kicker #92-K. Woodill nailed a 32-yard field goal. Notre Dame attempted a last-second game-winning field but was blocked.
